What is the gospel?

The gospel is the Christian message of salvation.

Salvation from what?

Salvation from sin and its consequences, death and hell.

Salvation to what?

Eternal life in Christ.

How does that work?

By Christ's death on the cross He bore the punishment that brought His people peace.

By His resurrection from the grave He gives His people His new and eternal life.

 

What does the Bible say?

It says, "He bore the punishment that brought us peace" (Isaiah 53:5)

"I AM the resurection and the life" (John 11:25)

"Christ, who is our life" (Colossians 3:4)

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works" (Ephesians 2:10)

What must I do to be saved?

The only way to save yourself is to keep the law of God completely. This is something no one has ever done, because of the corruption that is in our natures.

Then how can I be saved?

Saved from what? If you want to be saved from hell, you are evil. Only bad people want to be saved from hell.

Good people don't care if they end up in hell. They tell themselves, "well I definately deserve it, so if that's God's will then I know it will bring Him glory."

Good people want to be saved from their sins.

And the good news is, good people, truly good people, have already been saved from their sins. God has already put in them a heart of trust, trusting in Him, in His love, in His goodness, in His justice, in His power and in His LORDSHIP over all things. 

What is God's LORDSHIP?

It is His commanding of all events. It is His rule over everything. All things come to pass by His command. He is LORD of all.
